Making a Will
Collaborative Family Law > Planning for the Future > Making a Will

Dying without a Will can cause hardship and chaos for those you leave behind.

By making a Will you can:
  • provide appropriately for the needs of your spouse, partner, children and other family members;
  • appoint guardians for your children;
  • minimise the Inheritance Tax payable on your family assets;
  • appoint as executors people who you know will be capable of winding up your affairs, particularly if these are complicated – e.g. if you have a business.

To make a Will, Ryan HawthornKatharine Barkas and Faye Murphy will meet you at our office, (or at your home if preferred) to discuss your needs and desires. They are highly experienced and will be able to draw your attention to any matters which you may not have considered. They will also provide you with details of our charges.

Home visits

If it is not feasible for you to come to us for age or health reasons, we are always happy to visit your home. We will also visit you in hospital, if you wish us to do so.

Urgent wills

If someone with limited life expectancy wishes to make a Will, we will always endeavour to visit that day and to prepare a Will for signature within 24 hours or such lesser period, as circumstances require.

Charges

We prepare simple Wills for a fixed fee.
Click here for more information on how to obtain a quotation. For more complex Wills, for example, Wills to mitigate inheritance tax, we charge at an hourly rate, but with an agreed maximum cap.
